WHY IT’S SPECIAL

Formulated with Glycolic Acid – an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) – this toner exfoliates the topmost surface of the skin targeting uneven skin tone and textural irregularities for improved skin radiance and visible clarity.

It also contains several amino acids, hydrating ingredients like glycerin, skin-replenishing ingredients such as sodium PCA and soothing antioxidant plant extracts.

The pH of this formula is approximately 3.6. Glycolic Acid has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximising effectiveness of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers in such a case would increase salt which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.

Exfoliation and the use of acids can be harsh on the skin, regardless of skin type and sensitivity. For this reason, The Ordinary has made this multi-tasking formula with a Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to reduce inflammation, and is further supported with the inclusion of Ginseng Root and Aloe Vera for visible radiance and soothing benefits.

Suitable for: Normal/Dry/Combination/Oily skin types.

HOW TO USE

• After cleansing, saturate a cotton pad and sweep it across face and neck, avoiding the eye contour.

• Do not rinse.

• Continue with additional skin treatments as needed.

• Apply sunscreen in the day to combat photosensitivity.

Use in the PM only, no more frequently than once per day and 2-3 nights per week to avoid over-exfoliation.

Apply SPF in the day.

 Sunburn Alert:  This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration. This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin.

• We recommend against use of multiple acids at the same time to avoid over-exfoliation. Likewise for any products that conflict with Glycolic Acid, try using them on alternate days or in a separate routine.

• Tasmanian Pepperberry derivatives originate from plants and varies in colour seasonally, and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.

• Always conduct a patch test before use on unbroken skin.

• Should any irritation occur, stop use immediately and consult your local physician.

• Keep out of reach from children.
