Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA

WHY IT’S SPECIAL

Arbutin is a plant-derived ingredient that breaks down into hydroquinone (a spot-lightening ingredient) when applied to skin, designed to target the appearance of dark spots from old acne, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. While products made with Alpha Arbutin are traditionally concentrated at 1%, The Ordinary’s formula incorporates a higher 2% concentration to maximise its brightening effects.

Working in synergy with Alpha Arbutin is the formula’s combination of Hyaluronic Acid that not only boosts hydration for plumper skin, but also helps to enhance the delivery of the brightening benefits of Alpha Arbutin.

HOW TO USE

• Apply 1-3 drops daily or as needed, pat or massage into skin until absorbed.

Use in the AM and/or PM.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Alpha Arbutin is extremely sensitive to degradation in the presence of water if the pH formulation is not ideal. The pH of this formula is approximately 4.9 which is shown to be the most suitable pH to minimise degradation of Alpha Arbutin.

• We are aware of the potential colour changes of The Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin serum. This is a natural occurrence, where certain ingredients in the product can change colour when exposed to sunlight or increased temperature. Testing has shown that the efficacy and safety profile of the active ingredient remains stable.

• Always conduct a patch test before use on unbroken skin.

• Should persistent irritation occur, stop use immediately and consult your local physician.

• Keep out of reach from children.

✴︎ Alpha Arbutin: A skin-brightening, depigmenting agent to help speed up the process of fading scars and brown spots.

✴︎ Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate: A next-generation form of Hyaluronic Acid, used in this formula to help deliver the other ingredients better into the skin. Its ultra-low molecular weight means it is able to moisturise deeper layers of the skin where normal Hyaluronic Acid cannot get to.

✴︎ Lactic Acid: An AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that gently exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal newer, fresher, smoother skin. Also has amazing hydrating properties.
