WHY IT’S SPECIAL

Retinoids are an emerging group of next-generation vitamin A derivatives that are an ester of retinoic acid, which is what retinol breaks down to in the skin. This treatment contains two different forms of retinoids that cause less irritation and are easily absorbed by the skin, making it great for all skin types and the perfect introduction to age-prevention skincare.

The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion delivers the same benefits that the powerhouse vitamin is renowned for and works by accelerating the rate of skin cell turnover, making way for newer, fresher, and healthier cell growth underneath. It also helps to slow down the degeneration of collagen in the skin, the main protein for youthful-looking skin, and helps to prevent the formation of dynamic facial folds and wrinkles. It also targets pigmentation, dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and active breakouts – while the milky formula absorbs quickly without leaving residue.

The main active retinoid also known as Hydryoxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) is blended with a form of pure Retinol in a protective capsule system that aids the delivery of the HPR. Also included in the mix is a moisturising glycerin, calming bisabolol, and antioxidant Tasmannia lanceolate extract for an all-rounded supplement for your skin.

Suitable for: Beginners of retinoids, all skin types including sensitive and acne-prone skin.

Feels like: A creamy lotion-liquid hydrating emulsion.

pH Level: 5.00-6.00

HOW TO USE

• Apply 1-3 drops to palm, then pat or massage across face and neck until absorbed.

• For beginners, start by using 1-2 times a week, then increase frequency to every night if desired.

• Avoid use with other retinoid treatments.

• After opening, store in dark and cool place away from sunlight. Optionally, store in refrigerator to better preserve the formula.

Use in the PM before bed time for best results.

 Note:  Most retinoids/retinols are light-sensitive and exposure to UV contributes to degradation of the product and interferes with its efficacy. Store products in a dark and cool place away from sunlight, and avoid using retinoids/retinols in the day to get the most benefit from your treatment.

GOOD TO KNOW

• When pregnant or breastfeeding, it is recommended to avoid any skincare products containing retinoids such as formulations with Granactive Retinoid or Retinol.

• As of late August 2017, The Ordinary's portfolio of retinoids has been extended based on valuable consumer feedback and, as part of these introductions, Advanced Retinoid 2% has been renamed to Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion to align with the new naming direction of the extended range. The formula continues to offer an emulsion of 2% of the same advanced retinoid complex.

• Supplied in UV-protective brown tinted glass bottle to reduce light degradation of the product.

• This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Always conduct a patch test before use on unbroken skin.

• Should any irritation occur, stop use immediately and consult your local physician.

✴︎ Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate: A member of the retinoid family that serves similar qualities as retinoic acid but without the irritation to boost cell regeneration and defend against signs of ageing.

✴︎ Retinol: Also known as Vitamin A, the most proven anti-aging ingredient that works to iron out wrinkles and make skin firmer. It normalises keratinisation which makes it useful for acne-prone skin.
