Retinoids are an emerging group of next-generation vitamin A derivatives that are an ester of retinoic acid, which is what retinol breaks down to in the skin. This treatment contains two different forms of retinoids that cause less irritation and are easily absorbed by the skin, making it great for all skin types and the perfect introduction to age-prevention skincare.
The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane delivers the same benefits that the powerhouse vitamin is renowned for and works by accelerating the rate of skin cell turnover, making way for newer, fresher, and healthier cell growth underneath. It also helps to slow down the degeneration of collagen in the skin, the main protein for youthful-looking skin, and helps to prevent the formation of dynamic facial folds and wrinkles. It also targets pigmentation, dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and active breakouts – while its suspension in squalane oil leaves a dewy finish, hydrating your face as you sleep.
The real star of the show here is the granactive retinoid also known as Hydryoxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR), blended with high fatty acid and antioxidant content Squalane and mixed with a calming Bisabolol, plus antioxidant Tomato Extract and Jojoba Oil – for an all-rounded supplement for your skin.

HOW TO USE
- Apply 1-3 drops to palm, then pat or massage across face and neck until absorbed.
- For beginners, start by using 1-2 times a week, then increase frequency to every night if desired.
- Avoid use with other retinoid treatments.
- After opening, store in dark and cool place away from sunlight. Optionally, store in refrigerator to better preserve the formula.
GOOD TO KNOW
- When pregnant or breastfeeding, it is recommended to avoid any skincare products containing retinoids such as formulations with Granactive Retinoid or Retinol.
- Supplied in UV-protective brown tinted glass bottle to reduce light degradation of the product.
- This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Always conduct a patch test before use on unbroken skin.
- Should any irritation occur, stop use immediately and consult your local physician.
